Hello, Iām Mary Ellen and I am happy to be able to connect with you here!
I love working with pregnant people because of the constant change and evolution they experience through their journey. In pregnancy, the aches and pains you feel one day will be gone the next week and replaced with new ones. This transformation is life affirming, and I love to assist along the way. As your doula, I will respect your sacred space and work with you to cultivate what you need. As your massage therapist, I enjoy providing comfort and relief pre- and postpartum.
Before I was a parent, birthing doula and licensed massage therapist, I was a chef living in San Francisco, regularly practicing yoga and receiving weekly massages to deal with the stresses of work. It was in San Francisco at the The Mindful Body where I was first introduced to the beautiful harmony between bodywork and birthing work and I slowly, but surely, transitioned from a stressed out worker to a willing student to a certified doula and massage therapist. By blending together massage and doula work, I create an environment and ambience for parent and child that flows gently with confidence, comfort and reassurance.
In 2011 I moved to the East coast, became a New York State licensed massage therapist working at Press Modern Massage, and attended a total of 30 labors. I have performed birthing doula work at the following hospitals: Mount Sinai West, New York-Presbyterian Hospital, NYU Langone Health, Wyckoff Heights Medical Center and Woodhull Hospital. In 2017 I gave birth to my daughter, and was grateful for the doula who attended my labor.
